About The Investor Group
Gold Coast Retirees Investor Group meets monthly, on the third Wednesday of each month at Broadbeach Seniors Centre, 23 T.E. Peters Drive, Broadbeach, Qld.
Meetings start at 9.30 am and go through to midday with a coffee break of 30 minutes at 10.30.
Many high-profile speakers are regularly contributors to our meetings, providing valuable ideas and perspectives to members. Meanwhile, members themselves collectively have a wealth of investing experience that they willingly share via an ‘open forum’ session, where ideas are explored in a collegiate positive atmosphere. The ‘open forum’ is a feature of all meetings.
Many members manage their own superfunds and are intent on improving their knowledge and ultimately their investment performance. Other members have significant holdings outside the superfund structure and are similarly motivated investors.
Naturally there is a social element to our meetings. Many members have been active participants for many years and have in the process established many long-term friendships. Our current Director is Jeff Convine.
If coming for the first time, please introduce yourself to our welcomer at the door at our venue, Broadbeach Seniors Centre T.E. Peters Drive Broadbeach.

Investor Group Report May 2025
Our May meeting saw over 80 members and guests attend what was the first meeting to be held incorporating local ASA members. The meeting was treated to an incisive dissection of world economic trends by Wilson Asset Management’s Damien Boey. The new Wilson LIC ‘Maximiser’ (ASX Code WMX) came in for special attention. In addition, Damien covered a multitude of topics relevant to investors, including the bond market and the state of both the American and Chinese economies. Damien believes that China might outperform current expectations benefiting Australia in the process. Australia is seen as somewhat a ‘proxy’ for China, for as China does well, so too does Australia in providing China with valuable resources. The meeting featured the usual robust ‘open forum’ and I tried to make some sense of everything from interest rate changes, proposed tax changes and likely changes in investor behaviour. Our June 18th meeting will see Sandon Capital’s Gabriel Radzyminski join us to tell us about his organisation.See you all June 18th for what promises to be another great morning. In the meantime, good investing!Jeff Convine Director Investor GroupInvestor Group Report May 2025Our May meeting saw over 80 members and guests attend what was the first meeting to be held incorporating local ASA members.
